Trails:
There are over 150 miles of trails at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with all different levels of difficulties, and all passing different sites. Most of the trails are open year round as well.
Favorite trails in the park include the Keauhou trail, Iki trail, Mauna Iki trail, Mauna Loa trail, and the Naipaul trail. The Keauhou trail follows historic lava flows, but can be a hot and strenuous hike. The Kilauea Iki trail may be the most popular trail, and it is a 4 mile loop through the Ohia forest, and then to the Iki crater. The Mauna Iki trail goes through a multicolored desert of sun drenched pahoehoe lava.
